JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Manager, Special Projects is responsible for providing expert consultation for the successful migration of a client's learning management system (LMS), managing a connected Power BI custom reporting project related to the LMS migration, and leading small teams supporting other learning-related special projects or initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, project management expertise, and advanced technical skills, particularly in LMS platforms and business intelligence tools.

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership and expert consultation for client-facing LMS migration initiatives and related business intelligence projects, ensuring seamless planning, execution, and delivery of solutions that support learning operations, as well as other learning-related special projects, as needed. This position also fosters team development and cross-functional collaboration to achieve strategic objectives of these special projects.

This position reports to the Director, Learning Operations and Performance Analytics and is part of the Learning Operations and Performance Analytics team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expert consultation on the end-to-end client-facing LMS migration projects, ensuring effective planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Lead the development of a specialized Power BI project connected to LMS migration, including the creation of custom reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborate on other LMS special projects such a reporting integration, etc.
  • Consult and provide recommendations on special projects [outside of the LMS migration] with internal teams, internal cross-functional groups, clients as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, scope, scale, and deliverables on special projects.
  • Manage, mentor, and support a small team (e.g.,1-3 members) dedicated to a special project, fostering a positive and productive environment.
  • Facilitate, as needed, meetings with internal teams, cross-functional groups, and the client.
  • Ensure all project goals, timelines, and quality standards are met or exceeded in alignment with client needs.
  • Research and share best practices by topic for a special project with internal teams, cross-functional stakeholder groups, and the client.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, education technology, information systems, adult learning, or a related field). Certifications in LMS platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with LMS platforms and migration projects, including system selection and deployment.
  • Proven history of successfully implementing and managing matrixed and complex projects.
  • Proven expertise in Power BI or comparable business intelligence/reporting tools, with the ability to develop custom analytics solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading multi-phase technical or learning-related projects.
  • Leadership, mentoring, and team management abilities, especially with small teams.
  • Exceptional communication and people skills; adept at working with clients, internal teams, and cross-functional partners.
  • Analytical mindset, problem-solving capabilities, and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Skills and Competencies

  • Expertise in Learning Management Systems (LMS): Deep understanding of LMS platforms, migration processes, system selection, and deployment.
  • Business Intelligence and Reporting: Previous experience working on reporting projects such as Power BI or comparable tools for creating custom analytics, reports, and dashboards.
  • Project Management: Strong ability to lead multi-phase technical and learning-related projects, ensuring effective planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Proven experience mentoring, managing, and supporting cross functional teams and small teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Consultation and Collaboration: Skilled at providing expert recommendations and collaborating closely with clients, internal teams, and cross-functional stakeholder groups.
  • Communication and People Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate complex information clearly and build productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical mindset with keen attention to detail and the ability to address challenges effectively.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hybrid environment and managing shifting priorities across multiple initiatives.

Work Environment

The Senior Manager, Special Projects, will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment that requires flexibility, adaptability, and dedication to ongoing professional development. This role is hybrid and may require attendance at onsite meetings with GP Strategies team members and clients.
