Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive engineering project management support including development of cost and schedule estimates for new and ongoing projects.
- Track project execution against timelines and budgets, ensuring deliverables meet predetermined requirements and specifications.
- Identify, track, and mitigate project risks while maintaining acceptable risk levels throughout project lifecycles.
- Anticipate customer needs and predict future workload requirements to enable proactive resource planning.
- Communicate clearly and frequently with coworkers, customers, contractors, and technical experts across all project phases.
- Analyze military Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation (PHST) devices using engineering sciences theories and practices.
- Apply engineering techniques, requirements, methods, and procedures relevant to mechanical systems and PHST equipment.
- Perform systems engineering activities to verify that existing requirements are satisfied and properly documented.
- Support technical positions using sound engineering methodology and logical analysis when addressing challenges or design questions.
- Determine and implement appropriate verification methods for system and component requirements.
- Review and interpret test plans, test reports, analysis reports, and mechanical drawings to extract and communicate technical information.
- Apply commercial and military standards appropriately to ensure compliance with relevant specifications and regulations.
- Translate technical details for both technical and non-technical audiences through written reports and oral presentations.
- Assist in the creation and management of financial plans, budgets, and project milestones to ensure program success.
- Plan and coordinate individual assignments to align with broader project goals and organizational objectives.
- Maintain thorough documentation of project decisions, technical evaluations, and requirement verification activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related engineering discipline, or having attained an advanced military position.
- Minimum of 3 years of engineering or related technical experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving techniques necessary for professional engineering work.
- Strong understanding of engineering materials, processes, and technologies relevant to mechanical device design.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present information to technical audiences and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for project tracking and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Working knowledge of, or initiative to learn and apply, military standards, specifications, and engineering best practices.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and commitment to quality deliverables.
Nice to Have:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or willingness to pursue.
- Previous experience in project management or systems engineering roles.
- Familiarity with Navy or other DoW programs, acquisition processes, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Experience with military specifications and standards (MIL-STDs, MIL-SPECs).
- Experience with cost estimation tools and techniques.
