Middle Tier Specialist

GovCIO is currently hiring for Middle Tier Specialist to support our customer, USPS’ Network and Compute Technology (NCT) group.

Network and Compute Technology (NCT) is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and support of the USPS network and compute technology infrastructure. NCT enhances the postal network by implementing network segmentation, which divides the network into smaller parts to mitigate cybersecurity risks and improve performance. The NCT department manages local area, wireless, and wide area network connections for over 32,000 USPS facilities, including the data center, internet, cloud, and business partner networks.

NCT manages and oversees the Postal Service’s cloud services and data center infrastructure, which includes more than 24,000 servers, 110 petabytes of storage, and multiple cloud provider services to enable applications. Additionally, NCT is responsible for keeping the digital networks across the USPS landscape and compute infrastructures for applications running optimally, ensuring that they are secure and reliable 24/7.

This position can be located in Eagan MN, Memphis TN, Raleigh NC, or San Mateo CA with a hybrid schedule OR Remote MIGHT be considered.

• Support USPS implemented middle tier technologies on Windows and Linux servers, including web and application servers, containers and container management technologies, messaging technologies, cloud platform and services, automation tools, scripting languages and monitoring tools. 
• Current technologies in use include Apache Tomcat, WildFly, Oracle Fusion Middle Tier (OFM), IBM WebSphere, Apache HTTP, Kubernetes, Docker and other types of containers, IBM MQ, Kafka, Zookeeper, RedHat OpenShift, Rancher, Ansible, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Linux shell scripting, Microsoft PowerShell, JYTHON, AppDynamics, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Neustar and Splunk.
• Schedule and deploy middle tier services or middle tier components, patches or service pack releases, using  Ansible, other automation tools, or manually as required.
• Build, upgrade, configure middle tier service with proper documented security settings.
• Recommends and takes action to improve processes.
• Perform any necessary testing of installing or updating software/configuration files
• Use system management tools to monitor, mitigate, and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Provide project plans, reports, and presentations using Microsoft suite of tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.).

Bachelor’s with 5 - 8 years (or commensurate experience)        

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience, in middle tier administration or server management
• Experience with Apache Tomcat, WildFly, Oracle Fusion Middle Tier (OFM), IBM WebSphere, Apache HTTP, Kubernetes, Docker and other types of containers, IBM MQ, Kafka, Zookeeper, RedHat OpenShift, Rancher, Ansible, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Linux shell scripting, Microsoft PowerShell, JYTHON, AppDynamics, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Neustar and Splunk.

Clearance Required:  US citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) is required to acquire USPS Public Trust

Preferred Skills and Experience

• A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is preferred

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Salary : $71,150 - $90,000
