Duties
- Skillfully cut, trim, and prepare a variety of meats including beef, pork, poultry, and specialty items using professional knife skills and meat cutting techniques
- Ensure all meat products are handled safely and stored correctly in accordance with food safety regulations
- Package meat products efficiently for retail display or food service use while maintaining quality standards
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, tools, and equipment in compliance with health regulations
- Assist customers by providing knowledgeable advice on meat selections, cuts, and cooking tips to enhance their shopping experience
- Rotate stock regularly to ensure freshness and minimize waste; monitor inventory levels for timely replenishment
- Follow all food handling procedures diligently to prevent contamination and ensure product integrity
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals while maintaining a positive work environment
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food production or culinary environments, particularly with meat cutting or butchery preferred
- Strong knife skills with the ability to perform precise cuts efficiently
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Experience in food preparation, packaging, and presentation within the food industry or restaurant setting
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively about products and cooking methods
