What are the responsibilities and job description for the Journeyman Plumber position at Gotta Go Plumbing?
Gotta Go Plumbing is hiring an experienced plumber licensed in Kentucky or Indiana to run residential service calls independently. We serve Evansville, Newburgh, Owensboro, Henderson, and surrounding communities. Work assignments will be based on your licensing.
We handle everyday repairs, drain and sewer problems, water heaters, leaks, and piping work. Drain cleaning is a major part of our business, and you must be able to do it confidently.
This is a position for a well-rounded service plumber. A background limited to new construction, without substantial experience diagnosing problems in occupied homes and clearing drains independently, will not be a fit.
What you need to be able to do
- Diagnose residential plumbing problems and complete sound repairs without step-by-step supervision.
- Clear fixture drains and mainlines with appropriate equipment, navigate common access challenges, and know when a camera inspection or further repair is needed.
- Diagnose and repair leaks in water, drain, waste, and vent systems.
- Install and repair water heaters, toilets, faucets, shower valves, shutoffs, hose bibs, disposals, and other common residential fixtures.
- Repair and replace residential water and drain piping, including work in basements and crawl spaces.
- Explain findings and repair options clearly to homeowners.
- Present our established price-book options accurately, without making up prices or offering unauthorized discounts.
- Complete estimates, invoices, photos, and job notes in ServiceTitan.
- Test your work, protect the customer’s property, and leave the job clean.
- Manage your schedule, truck stock, and communication with the office.
You should be able to handle most residential service calls from diagnosis through completion. We expect you to ask for a second opinion when a situation calls for one, but you must bring the experience and judgment to run a typical call independently.
Required qualifications
- Current plumbing license in Kentucky or Indiana. Licensure in both states is welcome but not required.
- Substantial hands-on residential service and repair experience.
- Demonstrated ability to clear residential fixture drains and mainlines independently.
- Your own complete set of standard plumbing hand tools, maintained in good working condition.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Dependable work habits and professional communication.
Gotta Go Plumbing supplies the service vehicle, large drain-cleaning equipment, and specialty plumbing tools. You supply the standard hand tools a working plumber uses day to day. We’ll discuss the tool expectations during the interview so there are no surprises.
ServiceTitan experience is helpful, but we can teach the software. We need someone who already knows how to troubleshoot and perform residential plumbing work.
The kind of teammate we need
Gotta Go Plumbing is still building. We want someone who takes pride in the trade, treats customers honestly, helps coworkers, and wants to make the company better. That means showing up ready, working with purpose, communicating when a job changes, documenting the work, and taking ownership when something needs to be corrected.
We’re looking for someone who sees the opportunity in helping build a strong service company.
Pay and benefits
- Up to $33 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability.
- Company service vehicle, fuel card, and tablet for work.
- Company-supplied large drain equipment and specialty plumbing tools.
- Paid training and paid time off according to company policy.
- Planned health reimbursement: We are working to establish a company-funded Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement (QSEHRA) for eligible employees after 90 days. Final plan terms will be provided before enrollment.
- Profit-sharing opportunity: Available after the 90-day probationary period, based on individual performance and company profitability. Participation and payouts are not automatic or guaranteed.
If you’re a Kentucky- or Indiana-licensed residential service plumber who can handle drains, solve problems independently, and wants to help build a company you’re proud to work for, apply to Gotta Go Plumbing.
