As a dynamic and opportunistic business our core competencies span the following categories:
- Disaster Response
- Temporary sheltering, staffing, basecamps, catering, commodities, comfort stations
- Construction and Earthwork
- Power Generation
- Warehousing and Logistics
- Transportation
- Information Technology and Communications
We are on a mission to build the most reliable and impactful response company in the world. Every day we aim to make a positive impact on the communities where we work and live.
The Role
Gothams is looking for an intern to join the team this summer. You’ll have the opportunity to make an impact from day one and be given the autonomy to take-on as much as you can handle. As a dynamic and opportunistic firm, your daily responsibilities can and will change depending on the state of affairs. Generally, you’ll be working with experienced operators on active projects in the field, huddling with back office personnel to ensure documentation and invoicing is dialed, and finding new business opportunities for Gothams to pursue.
As a Gothams intern, no two days are the same. Over the course of the summer you will do meaningful work, be put in leadership positions, and help drive the business forward.
What You’ll Do
- Source, evaluate, and present contracting opportunities that fit Gothams’ capabilities
- Learn and subsequently lead the proposal generation and response for all relevant solicitations
- Augment the field operations team during emergency response activations
- Conduct research on industry news, relevant companies, and new technologies in the emergency management space
- Collect, QA/QC, and submit supporting documentation across all projects and operations
- Contribute to business development efforts and vendor outreach
Who You Are
- Self-Starter: See something, do something. You drive the ball forward and feel comfortable working with little to no direction. You take ownership and see things through to completion.
- Composed: We are a highly skilled and highly competitive team working on critical projects with unrealistic timelines. You must be comfortable in a high pressure and fast paced environment where failure isn’t an option.
- Detail-Oriented: The small things matter to you just as much as the big things. In our line of work, a miscommunication or a rounding error can impact lives.
- Problem-Solver: Often, there’s no playbook for how to respond to an emergency. You are able to think on your feet, ruthlessly prioritize, and get creative to solve problems.
- People Person: A core aspect of the job is managing people – subcontractors, customers, competitors, and teammates. Written and verbal communication skills are critical for stakeholder alignment and mission success.
