Distribution Assistant

THE ROLE 

The Distribution Assistant supports accurate and timely order fulfillment, shipping, receiving, and inventory control. This position selects and stages products, inspects product and shipment quality, prepares pallets or carts, moves products and materials, records required information, and maintains organized storage areas. The role works safely with material-handling equipment and supports reliable service to internal and external customers. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Order Selection and Loading 

• Select and stage the correct product item numbers, quantities, and shelf life for shipment. 

• Inspect product quality while selecting orders and pack only products that meet quality standards. 

• Isolate products with quality defects and report them to the supervisor. 

• Securely pack products on pallets or carts, including shrink-wrapping and labeling as needed. 

• Move products to and from storage areas and the loading dock for shipping and receiving. 

• Accurately record required product information on paperwork. 

• Perform other duties as assigned to support Operations. 

Shipping and Receiving 

• Use material-handling equipment or manual methods to safely move products, materials, and supplies between storage areas and the loading dock for loading or unloading. 

• Load, unload, inspect, and put away shipments of materials and supplies. 

• Inspect incoming shipments for quality defects, including damage, incorrect item numbers, or incorrect quantities. 

Inventory Control 

• Stock and organize inventory and consolidate storage space as needed. 

• Rotate inventory by item number, lot code, and shelf life. 

• Support periodic company inventory counts of products, materials, and supplies. 

Employee and Food Safety Compliance 

• Follow the facility GMPs. 

• Execute daily processes that enforce food safety protocols and maintain compliance. 

• Follow company food safety, employee safety, quality, and material-handling procedures while selecting, storing, receiving, and loading products. 

WHO YOU ARE 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

• Valid driver’s license. 

• Ability to use computers and ERP systems. 

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand or walk continuously during an 8-hour shift. 

• Valid authorization to work in the United States. 

• Reliable transportation to and from work. 

• Open availability to work varying schedules, including nights, holidays, and weekends when needed. 

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities 

• Attention to detail and the ability to select, stage, label, and record products accurately. 

• Ability to identify product or shipment defects and promptly report discrepancies. 

• Ability to organize, rotate, count, and maintain inventory by item number, lot code, and shelf life. 

• Ability to safely use assigned material-handling equipment and follow shipping, receiving, food safety, and employee safety procedures. 

• Ability to support timely order fulfillment and provide flexible shipping, receiving, inventory, forklift, or delivery support as assigned.
