What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Scheduler position at Gossner Foods, Inc.?
Job Summary:
The Production Scheduler will coordinate production schedules and inventories to ensure efficient and effective operation of the assigned department or facility.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, customer service, and manufacturing departments.
- Collaborates with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve our customers and the company.
- Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and work with Purchasing to acquire additional raw materials as needed.
- Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.
- Maintains master distribution schedule for the facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.
- Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales and customer service; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff.
- This is a full time position with 40 hours per week expected most of the time.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of the business and supply chain.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extremely proficient with production planning systems.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- At least five years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Knowledge of the dairy industry preferred.
- Certification by APICS preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Pay and Benefits:
- Hourly pay plus bonuses.
- Estimated annual income range of $70,000 to $80,000.
