Summary
Gospel Rescue Mission is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit religious organization that provides social service programs to the homeless and working for poor populations. Everything we do in this ministry should be centered in the will of God and in honoring the name of Jesus Christ.
Consistent with our formation and purpose, all employees of Gospel Rescue Mission, upon hire and continuously while employed must:
- Warmly greet all guests, including, but not limited to, visitors, volunteers, vendors, staff, guests, donors; homeless men, women, and children; community groups, church groups, and public officials
- Establish and build healthy Christ-honoring relationships with guests, while maintaining professional boundaries including guest confidentiality
- Trains, leads, and assigns tasks to the volunteers, holds the volunteers accountable for meeting mission, quality, safety, and other performance standards.
- Monitors operation of the dining room and performance of the volunteers.
- Prepares schedules for volunteers, ensuring adequate staffing and appropriate distribution of assignments.
- Monitors inventory of dining room supplies, ensuring that associates are exercising appropriate cost controls; assists in ordering and/or maintaining inventory.
- Monitors dining room to ensure the area is clean and in proper condition; notifies management of needed repairs and/or replacements and possible safety hazards.
- Monitors available seating and directs guests to appropriate tables to ensure efficient distribution for the best possible service.
- Communicates with kitchen staff to ensure appropriate levels of food, beverage, and eating and drinking utensils are available at all times.
- Oversees and assists with dining-related programs such as special events, private parties, meal delivery, and guest dining.
- Assists in maintaining appropriate department records such as reports, files, time records, and schedules.
- Oversee equipment, materials & supplies, utensils, etc. for inventory, placing out for use, cleanliness, etc.
- Oversee cleaning and maintenance of dining room as per health department codes
- Set up for events and with post-event clean up, inventory, food storage, and tear down.
- Assist with food preparation and serving.
- Participates in and attends all in-service training and education programs as scheduled.
- Supervisor volunteer server time and attendance records.
- Complete reports as needed including daily meal count.
- Ensure health department standards are being followed and interact with the health department during their inspections to obtain "Good" to "Excellent" ratings.
- Report any safety hazards to the maintenance department.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experienced in banquet serving, food industry, and inventory supervision.
- Proficient organizational skills.
- Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness.
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards.
- Proficient customer and personal service skills.
- Proficient teaching and leading abilities.
- ServSafe Certified is a plus.
- Awareness of homelessness, substance abuse disorders, and mental health issues is a plus.
- Maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and must have a clean driving record.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Must be an evangelical Christian, living a life dedicated to Christ, and be an instrument of God’s love, grace, hope, and forgiveness to all.
- This individual will be lifting and carrying bags and equipment, and will spend time sitting at a desk or walking, lifting, and pushing. This individual will be expected to clean and maintain equipment and facility and will move throughout the community with volunteers/guests. This individual will come in contact with volunteers /guests/students who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all volunteers, staff, and themselves. Able to lift to 50lbs.
- The population we serve is typically in crisis. This can cause emotional stress and compassion fatigue. GRM highly promotes employee self-care.
