What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer position at GOSIGER MACHINE TOOL LLC?
Upon the identification of an opportunity, the Proposal Engineer will develop manufacturing process recommendations and collect information relevant to the production of a customer proposal. The incumbent utilizes the team approach through consulting with the Proposal Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, and Machine Tool Sales Teams as well as vendors/suppliers for work holding and tooling. Incumbent develops a ‘best approach’ to the application and analyze associated risks, and collects supporting data required to generate a project budget. Incumbent works alongside our internal sales distribution channels as well as directly with the end user during the life-cycle of the opportunity.
Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Process Evaluation Phase:
- Review customer provided scope of work, ESD Manager, Proposal Engineering’s process evaluation, and Machine Tools Sales Engineer’s discovery comments to generate machine process recommendations taking into consideration all Gosiger product offerings.
- Generate cycle time studies, process drawings, and or process simulations to illustrate the recommended process options.
- Collaborate with Machine Tool Sales, Proposal Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering teams to ensure the correct process is being considered and meets the customers’ needs and expectations.
- Participate in Discovery meetings with the objective of understanding the customers’ needs through phone calls, web meetings, and or onsite customer visits.
- Quoting Phase:
- Work with outside vendors to obtain quotes for content to be included within the ESD proposal.
- Prepare technical presentations explaining the process recommendations and highlight the benefits of the Gosiger solution.
- Participate in Process Review meetings with the objective of presenting process recommendations and machine tool solution thru phone calls, web meetings, and or onsite customer visits.
After Receipt of Order:
- Participate in the internal project kick off meeting by providing a detailed overview of the selected process, work holding solution, and tooling solutions to the assigned team, through web meetings or in person.
- Participate in the external project kick off meeting by providing a high-level process overview for the customers assigned team thru web meeting or onsite customer visits.
- Support assigned Engineering team throughout the life cycle of the project.
- Incumbent is required to:
- Maintain a technical fluency with Gosiger Engineered Systems services, Gosiger CNC machine tool product lines, and associated parts manufacturing processes.
- Maintain a strong technical relationship with distribution partners and end users.
- Maintain a technical understanding of past and current manufacturing process applications as can be applied to future opportunities.
- Attend technical sales events performed by suppliers and internal events.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned based on scope of work and skills and abilities.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS or BAS); electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent work experience
- A Minimum of 10-years hands-on experience in machine tool products, options and functions, understanding and application of Machine Tool programming, program modification, and set-up, statistical with process and evaluation criteria i.e. CPK, well versed in geometric tolerances,
- Experience with statistical process and evaluation criteria i.e., CpK, well versed in geometric tolerance, ability to read and interpret part prints and tolerances
- Strong understanding of metal cutting processing techniques and cutting tool and fixture/workholding design
- Computer literate and ability to use job related software/programs for programming, documentation and record keeping. AutoCAD Skills, 3-D software skills (Solidworks) experience desired but not required for consideration.
- Demonstrated business writing, documentation skills and Project Management skills
- Ability to participate as a member of a team, crossing department and divisional lines.
- Valid Driver’s License with a good driving history.
- Must be willing to travel up to 30%, including out of state or out of country and assist other divisions as required based on business demand. Required to obtain and maintain a valid passport.
- Ability to obtain a major credit card ie. American Express, Visa or Master Card, based on your own personal credit history to utilize for business expense and occasional travel requirements. Gosiger provides prompt business expense reimbursement after approval and submission.
Working Conditions:
- Office and manufacturing work environment which includes moving mechanical machine parts, potentially loud equipment, with exposure to a variety of non-hazardous and hazardous chemicals and airborne particles.

- Overnight travel as required to customer sites.
