Summary
This position is responsible for assessing the cost and scope of assigned projects and providing project management support through job completion. As the prime source of information regarding the scope of work, estimated job costs and projected profit margins, this position can have a major impact of the profitability of the company. Therefore, job assessment responsibilities must include gathering thorough and accurate take-off data; gaining detailed knowledge of the roof construction, history and condition; understanding the client’s needs, preferences and budget; properly estimating all costs associated with the job; and proposing cost-effective, competitive and profitable solutions. Some business opportunities require the completion and submission of client-specific bid forms and/or compliance with detailed job specifications. This position must become well skilled in the interpretation and use of these documents. As an estimator, this position plays a role in maintaining effective and efficient job execution, providing interim updates/reports as needed to the customer and ensuring that the customer experience is positive and satisfying. This position is expected to work closely with account managers, customer service and production to meet customer needs while considering production’s capability/capacity constraints.
Location
Phoenix, Arizona based. May require travel.

Reports to the VP of Sales but will also support other Account Managers as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Roof Inspections and Take-off Reports
Provide critical information concerning the roof’s characteristics and condition
- Roof Inspections
- Use available resources to research property and gather background information
- Personally inspect property to assess the roof construction, key characteristics and condition
- Document findings including specific issues identified, general concerns and recommendations.
- Take-off Reports
- Use available resources to research property and gather background information
- Use reliable 3rd party sources or personally inspect property to gather details concerning the roof construction, key characteristics and dimensions
- Document findings including critical dimensions, special feature measurements, penetrations, etc. for each roof/roof style

Job Estimates, Bids & Proposals
Prepare scope of work specifications and detailed cost estimates to enable a competitive and profitable customer bid/proposal

- Correctly choose appropriate estimating template for the nature of the job

- Incorporate data from inspection report, take-off report, proposal and/or bid specification to identify:

- After completing cost estimate described above, complete client-specific bid forms that comply with job specifications
- Submit completed forms in accordance with bid guidelines after Account Manager approval
- Propose other cost-effective, competitive and profitable solution alternatives if requested
Qualifications:
Experience/Qualifications/Education Preferences
- High school diploma/GED
- 5 years of commercial high and low slope roofing experience
- Experience with SP (EPDM, TPO, PVC), BUR, foam, shingle, tile and metal roofing systems preferred
- Knowledge, experience and skills for roofing system estimating
- Computer proficiency with Sage and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license and eligibility to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in an environment where there may be regular exposure to noise, odors, fumes, temperature fluctuations and other conditions associated with the roofing industries. Lift minimum of 50 lbs, standing for long periods of time. Vision abilities to include: distance, close, color, depth, and peripheral. Also the ability to adjust focus. Regular use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Must be able to climb ladders. Must be able to work at varying heights and in all weather.
