What are the responsibilities and job description for the PCB DFM Engineer position at Gorilla Circuits?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review customer PCB design packages (Gerber, ODB , IPC-2581, etc.) for completeness, accuracy, and manufacturability.
  • Perform detailed DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFR (Design for Reliability) checks according to company and IPC standards.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to resolve design or data discrepancies before production release.
  • Provide design recommendations that optimize manufacturability, yield, and cost.
  • Develop and maintain DFM guidelines, design rules, and best practices based on fabrication capabilities.
  • Work closely with CAM Engineers to translate customer data into production-ready tooling and documentation.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) for advanced technologies such as HDI, rigid-flex, and high-layer count PCBs.
  • Ensure design compliance with internal capabilities, IPC standards, and customer specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with Sales, Program Management, and Production to ensure clarity on design intent and manufacturability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering workflows, process automation, and quality control.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 years of experience in PCB fabrication engineering, DFM analysis, or CAM engineering within a PCB manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of PCB fabrication processes, materials, and IPC design standards (IPC-2221, IPC-6012, etc.).


Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in PCB design and analysis tools (e.g., CAM350, Valor NPI, Genesis, UCAM, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of multilayer stackups, impedance control, copper balancing, drill structures, and controlled-depth processes.
  • Familiarity with HDI, rigid-flex, and advanced material technologies.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.


Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
