Middle School 8th-Grade ELA Teacher (Anticipated)
Gorham Middle School is seeking a motivated and student-centered educator to join our 8th-grade ELA team. The ideal candidate brings content knowledge, is collaborative, and has a genuine enthusiasm for working with young adolescents.
Responsibilities
•Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in ELA to students in grades 6–8
•Use data to inform instructional decisions and support student growth
•Collaborate with grade-level teams to support student learning, behavior, and well-being
•Communicate proactively with families and maintain accurate records in the gradebook
•Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and team meetings
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree required; Maine educator certification required or anticipated by start date
•Eligible for Maine certification in at least one of the following:
oEnglish Language Arts (100) under Middle Level Teacher (5–8) or Secondary Teacher (6–12)
oElementary Teacher (020) K–8 endorsement
•Experience working with middle school students preferred
•Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
