Preferred Experience: Legal writing, contracts, in-depth media writing such as online newspaper or magazine, business writing, and research. Job Summary: The Writer Editor will be involved with the development of appraisal reports that detail specific traits and conditions of the companies appraised by Gordon Brothers and in support of the evaluation as reflected in the appraisal analysis. This position will work closely with the Valuations teams to write and proofread appraisal reports. Provides editorial support in proofreading, editing and formatting all forms of written content for appraisal reports to support the assigned project team. Project teams may represent clients in various industries and asset classes and reports may be new appraisals or reappraisals. Reviews report content to ensure it meets client deliverables and is tailored based on client specified requirements for their unique industry. Appraisal reports range in size and scope, including complex documents with hundreds of pages and multiple exhibits. Using a template for job set-ups, the Editor inputs and edits content for appraisal reports including, but not limited to: Client industry and company overviews Industry liquidation information Competitor information Field visit notes, photos and charts, including adding verbiage to tie values between exhibits, figures and text Updates industry section, brings over prior spotlights, key collateral monitoring points and updates #s with new figures for reappraisals Proofreads for typos, grammar, unclear sentences and consistency between sections Formats Excel spreadsheets that are used in Word documents Ensures report accuracy and standardizes reports using internal guidelines Research industry-related news and stays current with industry research sources for producing thorough industry write-ups. May develop content for final reports utilizing field notes from other team members. Manages workflow with team members to improve efficiency and timeliness of multiple project deadlines. Additional projects as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field of study 1 year of editing or proofreading experience desired, internships included Excellent verbal and written communication skills Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) Detail oriented, able to prioritize and take initiative Technical writing skills with a high level of proficiency in spelling and grammar Ability to handle a diverse and fast-paced environment and react with urgency, when required High standards for quality and strong proofreading skills Ability to work independently and part of a team Ability to take ownership of the completion of an appraisal report High level of organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Deadline driven; able/willing to work outside of regular scheduled hours without advance notice, if necessary Gordon Brothers offers a very competitive total compensation package, including base salary and bonus plan, health insurance, dental benefits, a generous 401(k) match, time off benefits, and more.
