What are the responsibilities and job description for the Histotechnician - 2nd Shift position at GoPath Laboratories?
GoPath Laboratories delivers state of the art testing and consulting services to practicing physicians. Our diagnostic spectrum of tests in variety of areas enhance physician’s ability to detect, diagnose, evaluate and prevent cancer and other medical conditions.
Summary: The technician Prepares surgical specimens for gross and microscopic examination. Performs embedding and microtomy and special stains. Assists pathologists with special procedures. Must be able to multitask, handle a fast-paced workload, special stains manually, experience Ventana Ultra's and frozen sections.
Requirements
- Ability to perform routine histology assignments including but not limited to embedding, microtomy and staining.
- Must be meticulous in regard to patient identification, patient demographics, pathology reports, use of laboratory information system, and specimen handling/processing
- Ability to multitask and exercise professional judgment
- Must be able to work in a high output environment and have flexibility with various start times
- Good communication skills
Associates Degree or higher
Minimum 2 years' experience required
Certification as a Histology Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (HT-ASCP) or equivalent is preferred
