Job Summary
The Information Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This role ensures the integrity, security, and optimal performance of IT systems and supports users across the organization by providing timely technical assistance and managing system access and availability. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and proactive IT professional with a strong foundation in systems administration, network management, and cybersecurity practices. This position requires analytical problem-solving, project management capabilities, and excellent communication skills to support cross-functional teams.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and other IT infrastructure, including physical and virtual systems.
- Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file systems, and other core services.
- Monitor system performance, conduct regular audits, and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Manage backups, disaster recovery, and data integrity policies.
- Maintain security protocols, apply system updates and patches, and monitor for vulnerabilities or unauthorized access.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and configurations.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to support hardware/software deployments and upgrades.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes including account provisioning and access control.
- Participate in IT projects such as system migrations, cloud integration, or cybersecurity initiatives.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience in systems administration or a similar IT role.
- Proficiency in Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls) and TCP/IP troubleshooting (Cisco, Meraki, or Fortinet) preferred.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Intune, and M365) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Windows Administration: Proficient in Windows 10/11, Server 2016/2019/2022, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Virtualization: Hands-on experience with VMware or Hyper-V for managing virtual environments.
- Cloud Platforms: Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Intune, including user provisioning, VM deployment, and resource management.
- Microsoft 365 Suite: Administration experience with Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Defender, and OneDrive.
- Networking: Intermediate knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing/switching, and basic firewall configurations.
- Security Best Practices: Experience with patch management, endpoint protection, MFA, and user access controls in compliance with organizational security standards.
- Scripting: Ability to write and troubleshoot PowerShell scripts for task automation.
