What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS Production Manager position at Goodwyn Mills Cawood, LLC?
GMC has an opening for a GIS Production Manager in the Birmingham office’s Environmental Department to support on-going projects throughout GMC’s footprint. The GIS Production Manager will manage a team that provides GIS and other map-based services and support to GMC staff, clients, and local governments throughout the Southeast.
Essential functions and responsibilities include:
- Manage and collaborate with team members on project tasks related to GIS, database design and management, and data collection
- Develop web-based GIS applications and mobile applications to streamline internal and external workflows
- Manage GIS team and assign tasks to ensure high quality of work
- Perform GIS database development, analysis, and mapping
- Produce detailed, high-quality cartographic products (digital and hardcopy) and accompanying reports
- Communicate with project team members and other stakeholders to define data needs, project requirements, and desired outputs
- Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including public domain, field collection, aerial photographs/imagery, construction drawings/as-builts, and existing maps (both digital and hard copy)
- Customize GIS workflow and software programs for data collection and hosting
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of GIS project experience
- BA/BS in GIS, Geography or related field
- Understanding of cartography and cartographic principles
- Proficiency using ESRI ArcGIS software (Pro, Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Mobile Applications)
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office
- Experience in producing high-quality digital and hardcopy maps
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow guidance/instructions
- Resourceful and self-motivated
Travel requirements:
Travel will be required throughout the GMC footprint, but the successful applicant will be primarily located in the Birmingham office. (anticipated travel is roughly 25% of time).
