General Manager Requirements & Qualifications
- Significant tenure in prior roles; no companies less than 2 years tenure
- Marriott select-service experience required
- 3–5 years hotel GM experience; must be comfortable presenting to ownership weekly
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, or related field preferred
- Consistently professional appearance, high grooming standards, and confident presentation skills
- Strong owner relations and guest service orientation
General Manager Preferred Background & Skills
- Demonstrated success leading 100 room properties
- Experience working directly with property management groups on owner priorities
- Track record of improving guest satisfaction scores and financial performance
General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a core team including the AGM, housekeeping manager, and chief engineer
- Oversee all hotel operations, maintaining high standards for guest satisfaction, cleanliness, and team performance
- Meet weekly with the property owner to review performance metrics, financials, and initiatives
- Develop sales strategies and foster community relationships to drive business growth
- Ensure compliance with all brand, company, and regulatory standards
- Oversee budget administration, payroll, purchasing, and inventory management
