What are the responsibilities and job description for the MATERIAL HANDLER- BRUNSWICK OUTLET position at Goodwill Southeast Georgia?
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Presort donations, as they arrive within the facility and transport/move them to the appropriate department(s). Assist with moving material to fill store orders. Assists with handling and bailing salvage material.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Moves merchandise to various locations inside the warehouse under the direction of the warehouse management.
2. Transports gaylords, uprights, bins, pallets, boxes; etc. to work areas; distributes items and salvage to appropriate areas.
3. Sorts, packs, wraps, and transports donated goods.
4. Appropriately disposes of unsalable or unrecyclable items and trash.
5. Operates baling machine and prepares bales as directed by warehouse management.
6. Documents production numbers in a timely and accurate manner and forwards to appropriate personnel.
7. Operates material handling equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, etc.
8. Ensures donated goods are always secured and protected from misuse; occasionally accepts and receives donations.
9. Maintains work area, warehouse, and yard in an organized and clean manner.
10. Adheres to all safety procedures and wears all safety equipment that is required for the specific task.
11. Follows all company policies and procedures.
12. Attends and participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
13. Assists where needed in the warehouse.
14. Accomplishes retail and organization mission by completing related assignments as instructed by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High School graduate/ GED or any job-related experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Ability to operate hand trucks pallet jacks and hand truck.
- Possess good eyesight and color definition.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to quickly assess goods and determine appropriate routing.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule. Available to work nights and weekends as needed.
