Material Handler - SC (3594)

Summary:

Responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Moves material to and from various locations using various equipment, such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, or Forklifts.
• Pack labels and palletize materials as necessary.
• Loads and unloads materials from common carriers, verifies shipping / receiving information.
• Records inventories as required.
• May dispense contract work to individual work sites.
• Performs other activities as requested.

Education and/or Experience:

Requires the ability to read, write, and perform basic calculations in English, and must have enough basic education to understand and follow standard practices and instructions. This level of knowledge is typically below that of high school.

Language Skills: Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Spanish is a plus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk most of the day,  use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Additionally, you must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.  Must be able to work alone without constant supervision.
