Summary: 

Drives a straight truck or tractor-trailer combination to transport donated goods to and from Goodwill collection sites and stores.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate the straight truck or tractor-trailer unit safely and efficiently.
  • Report any vehicle problems or defects.
  • Transport and deliver goods per schedule.
  • Load and unload the merchandise as necessary at Attended Donation Centers, stores, and other locations.
  • Comply with the DOT standards and regulations.  Maintain a good driving record.
  • Ensure good customer relations by consistently servicing Attended Donation Centers on time and acting courteously and professionally.
  • Complete and submit the daily trip manifest upon returning to the dispatch office.
  • Able to use a pallet jack.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required. 
  • Two (1) years of straight truck or tractor-trailer driving experience and training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Work under specific instructions.
  • Knowledge of Miami-Dade County roadways and areas is necessary.

 

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • Current Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License, Ryder Driver Certification, and must pass a DOT physical certification, which must be updated every two years.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and push up to 50 pounds and push hampers on wheels weighing up to 550 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment - Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and frequently exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles.  Outdoor weather conditions range from 40°F to 100°F.  Must be able to work in wet, humid, or hot conditions, depending on the weather, with possible exposure to vibration.  The noise level in this work environment is usually loud.
