Instructs, directs and supervises grounds maintenance team. Directly supervised and coordinates activities of grounds maintenance team engaged in landscaping or grounds keeping activities. Ability to review contracts to ascertain service, equipment and workforce requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and enforce operating procedures and work stands that will ensure adequate performance and personal safety.
- Monitor project activities to ensure that instructions are being followed, deadlines are met and schedule are maintained.
- Effectively recruit, hire, develop, supervise, schedule and evaluate staff.
- Drive work vehicle (Van, Truck) with equipment trailer to work sites.
- Inspect completed work to ensure conformance to specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
- Investigate work-related complaints to verify problems and determine responses.
- Mow lawns in accordance with contract specifications
- Removes grass clippings, trash and debris from site.
- Trims tree branches, weeds, hedges and shrubs.
- Edges sidewalks, curbs, parking areas, and other surfaced areas.
- Care for landscaped areas such as flower beds, shrubs and trees, mulch and weed as needed
- Operate backpack blower by fueling, positioning harness securely on shoulders and guiding air stream to clear surfaced areas
- Clean and inspect all work tools, working areas, and assigned vehicle
- Perform basic maintenance of equipment following manufacturer’s specifications
- Safely operate all maintenance equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines and all safety policies and procedures.
- Responsible for wearing all safety related protective equipment
- Meet or exceed the attendance expectations for this position

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

- Must pass Goodwill background investigation criteria.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required
- Two (2) or more years of grounds maintenance experience in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- First Aid Certification preferred
- Valid Driver’s License and must be insurable
- Nebraska Pesticide Application License preferred (Will be required within 60 days of Hire)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as necessary for contract compliance.
- Must be knowledgeable about relevant safety rules and practices.
- Must be able to understand and follow training instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds
Physical dexterity to operate and control ride-on and walk-behind power equipment

SEASONAL INFORMATION
This position is seasonal. During the winter season the employee will be placed at one of the Janitorial contracts at their current pay rate.
