Lead Residential Specialist

As a Lead Residential Specialist, you would be taking care of and supporting program participants with disabilities in either a group home or personal place of residence. The role of the Residential Lead is to aid the Wahlstrom Coordinator in daily operations of the Wahlstrom Operations.

Available Shifts: Monday thru Friday 8-4 and 9-5

Responsibilities: 

• Assists with the development and implementation of individual service plans and/or behavioral plans for funded participants and Community Resident Participants to transition the individual to greater independence in the community as appropriate.
• Provides daily briefing of activities and assignments to supervisor. 
• Oversees supply tracking and ordering.
• Assists in ensuring assigned sights have appropriate staffing ratios.
• Oversees all Fire Drills and Inspections.
• Oversees and coordinates all repair orders.
• If working direct care or accompanying participants to medical appointments - completes notes as assigned by supervisor including daily documentation and data collection for Individual Service, Behavioral Plans, and/or Therap ISP Data as necessary. Notes must be completed at the end of each shift and must reflect the accurate times of service and all services provided.
• When working direct care, must perform all Residential Specialist duties as assigned
• Provides round-trip transportation to outings and/or appointments for assigned program participants as necessary. This will require use of Goodwill-issued vans when working at a Goodwill Community Residence.
• All overnight shifts are awake positions.
• Participates in on-call rotation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma and two (2) years’ experience providing services to individuals with brain injuries in the community; or a bachelor’s degree and one (1) year experience providing services to individuals with brain injuries in the community.
• Obtain training in acquired brain injury (ABI) and person-centered planning, given by approved agency within 30 days and other required new employee trainings within 30 days of hire and annually in accordance with CARF standards, Goodwill policies and state mandates. 
• Documented experience implementing cognitive/behavioral interventions developed by a clinician and utilized in community settings.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Computer literacy, organizational skills, ability to work as a team member.
• Must have valid CT license and daily access to a registered, insured vehicle.  May require Public Service License (PSL) depending on site assignment.
• Certification in First Aid & CPR (training offered by Goodwill and must be obtained within 30 days).
• Must be capable of lifting and carrying and/or transferring up to 40 lbs.
