What are the responsibilities and job description for the Goodwill Volunteer Opportunity: Be an IN-PERSON English Language Learner Classroom Aide for Goodwill! position at Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania?
Where there's a Goodwill, there's a way.
Goodwill is all about finding a way to make a difference in your community, no matter how big or small. It’s a way to empower yourself and others and to work together to create positive change.
When you see one of our stores in your neighborhood, you can be sure that good things are happening. Goodwill is more than just a store - we’re a community of passionate, dedicated individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of people in our communities.
At Goodwill Southwestern Pennsylvania, we believe that empowered individuals create thriving communities. As a leading social and human service organization in the region, we help thousands of individuals find jobs and provide education and workforce development services to those with barriers to employment.
Join us in strengthening your community and building a better world, one person at a time.

Goodwill of Southwestern PA is looking for individuals who enjoy helping others to make an impact in the immigrant community by serving as a classroom aide in one of our English Language classrooms in the greater Pittsburgh area. Having experience learning another language or having teaching experience is very helpful, but not required.
Goodwill offers English Language classes online and in-person at three locations our Lawrenceville location, PA CareerLink in Monroeville, and Northside Common Ministries in the North Side of Pittsburgh.
We are seeking a volunteer that can work with a small group of lower-level students in our classrooms. Learning materials are provided, and you will receive training in advance. If you are TEFL certified or are working on your TEFL certification, this could be a good opportunity for you, but we need someone to commit to at least 4 months, ideally twice a week. If you can go longer, that's great too!
Time off during vacations and holidays and days that you are sick are of course ok.
Volunteers should have a desire to help adult students achieve their educational goals! An interest in the subject matter is always a plus! Volunteers must have a High School diploma or equivalency, post-secondary degrees are not required but are nice to have.
Those interested can reply to this listing and then contact Ashley Reilly, Education Volunteer Coordinator by text at 412-498-0412 or by email at ashley.reilly@goodwillswpa.org.
