What You’ll Do
- Proactively seek out housing opportunities and resources to help homeless families and individuals locate and secure housing.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with landlords and housing providers; act as liaison between landlord and client as needed.
- Identify potential housing providers and landlords and establish professional relationships.
- Coordinate individualized housing needs assessments for all referred clients and develop housing plans that address barriers.
- Conduct Housing Quality Standard Inspections; advise and advocate for clients regarding quality housing standards.
- Assist consumers with housing applications and complete supportive and subsidized housing paperwork.
- Provide housing counseling to help consumers prepare for housing; share housing availability with the team in an efficient and timely manner.
- Maintain a housing directory with documentation of all contacts with housing providers; keep a current list of all housing assistance resources in Delaware County.
- Maintain client data tracking systems and logs, including case notes and housing plans through HMIS entries; track housing placement and support for all referred and housed consumers.
- Act as a liaison between housing authorities and landlords when assisting clients with navigating subsidized housing options.
- In coordination with shelter Case Managers, provide access to resources to assist families and individuals during their transition to permanent housing.
- Work in collaboration with Rapid Re-Housing and SSVF programs to assist with individual client housing needs.
- Facilitate a 5-week Housing Preparation workshop series focused on housing readiness, acquisition, and sustainability at all CAADC shelters on a rotating schedule.
- Facilitate presentations on financial wellness and personal finance topics, with a focus on housing, renting, and homeownership.
- Research financial products, consumer rights, consumer protections, and resources on an ongoing basis.
- Network with agencies, coalitions, landlord associations, and local community meetings.
- Complete all monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports and data tracking in a timely manner, including monthly client census and client lists.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings as directed; back up other staff and perform other duties as required.
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field from an accredited college or university AND/OR a minimum of 3 years of experience in property management, housing management, and/or real estate, including landlord/client negotiation and advocacy.
- Experience working with the homeless population and knowledge of Housing First practices and principles preferred.
- Ability to conduct needs assessments, develop individualized housing plans, and navigate complex systems of care.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills; experience with HMIS or similar data systems a plus.
- Comfortable facilitating workshops and presentations for diverse audiences.
- Valid driver’s license required.
