What are the responsibilities and job description for the Support Center Security Officer position at GOODWILL OF CENTRAL AND COASTAL VIRGINIA, INC?
Position Summary
The Support Center Security Associate will support operations at the assigned support center or retail location by engaging with customers and associates, monitoring the site for disruptions and partnering with site management to de-escalate situations as necessary.
Essential Duties(Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)
1. Greet associates, visitors, and customers. Answer questions and provide directions.
2. Use verbal de-escalation skills to defuse conflicts and maintain a calm environment.
3. Monitor entry/exit of associates, visitors, and customers to prevent unauthorized access.
4. Conduct regular patrols of site premises, including parking lots. Check doors and gates. Respond to alarms and other incidents.
5. Make regular observations in sales areas for customers who are disruptive, or may be creating loss to Goodwill.
6. Follow company protocols when contacting law enforcement, medical responders, or management.
7. Respond effectively to emergencies or disturbances, including administration of CPR/First Aid when needed.
8. Effectively document daily activities, irregularities, negative customer interactions, or unusual occurrences. This includes the completion of incident reports, KACE tickets when necessary, and/or emails.
9. Ensure compliance with building policies. Maintain a safe and secure environment for associates, visitors, and customers.
10. Conduct reviews of the location surveillance system to identify and archive video/still photos for incidents that occur on the premises.
11. Observe conditions that might cause injury to customers and associates, or cause damage to the building or its systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The associate in this position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education/Experience/Certificates/Security Clearance
High School Diploma or GED required.
1-3 Years' experience in a related field preferred.
No professional certifications are required for this position.
Valid state driver's license, insurance and satisfactory driving record are required.
Associates in this position will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check and sex offender check.
Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software and basic typing skills, required.
Must be able to learn to operate applicable surveillance camera systems.
Must be able to gain certification in CPR/First Aid/AED as provided by Goodwill.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills? are required.
Excellent customer service skills are required.?
Associate must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
