What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employment Specialist II Transition Services position at GOODWILL OF CENTRAL AND COASTAL VIRGINIA, INC?
Position Summary
The Employment Specialist II position is to provide support, assistance, and guidance to individuals with disabilities in the Transition Services Program that will enable individuals to develop skills and enhance their ability in finding their pathway to fully engage in employment opportunities in their community. Conducts pre-employment transition services, situational assessments, job placement, and training, and follow-along support services.
Essential Duties(Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)
1. Assists in the development, implementation and instruction of Work-based Learning curriculum for students with disabilities to include workplace readiness, social and self-advocacy skills and career exploration.
2. Develops internal and/or external opportunities for work-based learning experiences. Opportunities may include, but are not limited to, informational interviews, job shadowing, workplace tours, career mentorship, volunteering, and paid/unpaid work experiences.
3. Develops and monitors individualized service plans to assist individuals in obtaining their employment goals. Activities may include but are not limited to, resume building, application completion, scheduling, and preparing for an interview.
4. Provides support and training to a group of individuals in a hybrid classroom/work experience setting or individualized support to clients in a one-on-one setting. Also provides support and guidance to employer partners to help further the success of the individual within the workplace.
5. Independently manages a caseload, by working various hours to ensure the needs of the caseload are met, provides feedback to Program Manager to assist in the achievement of client outcomes, completes case narratives in a comprehensive and accurate manner.
6. Collects, writes, and maintains data and appropriate documentation in accordance with CARF accreditation standards, rules, and regulations set forth by the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), DBHDS, DMAS, Goodwill Policies and Procedures.
7. Regularly maintains contact with referral source counselors to communicate progress and case progression, any information impactful to program retention.
8. Completes required billing reports, case documentation and time records in UKG if applicable, utilizing CaseWorthy, Microsoft Word, Excel, to input participant data and communicate with team.
9. Transports program participants to external community work experience sites if applicable.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The associate in this position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education/Experience/Certificates/Security Clearance
• High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in a human services related field preferred.
• 1-3 Years' experience in a related field required.
• Membership in National Rehabilitation and/or Workforce Development Professional/Job Seeker Services Certification preferred.
• Valid state driver's license, insurance and satisfactory driving record are required.
• Required to pass state and federal criminal background and sex offender checks. Depending upon contract specifications, may also be required to pass CPS and LEIE background checks and other background checks as necessary.
• Ability to operate PC and databases. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word and Outlook.
