Responsibilities:
- Prepare and record financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Review and analyze accounting data and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Complete financial reconciliations supporting the general ledger and trial balance.
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP and state and federal reporting requirements.
- Act as a representative of the Agency in interactions with the Goodwill community and the public.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or 1-3 years of experience in a position of equal responsibility.
- Demonstrated proficiency in a computerized accounting system.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of classified information.
- Must pass a criminal background check that meets Agency standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in assisting with research projects.
- Ability to provide accounting support for various operating departments.
- Consult and confer with other staff to share technical accounting advice and guidance.
- Serve as an accounting liaison for both retail and program staff.
- Identify and recommend changes and improvements in accounting operations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Familiarity with GAAP, grant accounting, and other state and federal reporting requirements.
- Technical understanding and utilization of financial reporting and MS Office software.
- Knowledge of fixed asset tracking and accounting, including depreciation calculation.
- Ability to perform data entry and electronic record keeping of financial information.
- Prepare and enter recurring and miscellaneous journal entries and allocations.
- Complete monthly financial reconciliations as assigned.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and audits for the agency.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of work product.
