Job Identification:

Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 anually
Maximum Range is provided as an example of the Wage/salary range for each position and its earning capacity given factors such as time in position, longevity with the company, education level, and performance experience. Newly entering employees should expect to enter at the minimum level.
Job Summary:
The District Manager oversees the operations and performance of multiple retail store locations to ensure exceptional customer service, strong sales performance, and operational excellence. This role provides leadership, direction, coaching, and development to Store Managers and store teams while promoting a positive, high-performing work environment.
The District Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of multiple Goodwill retail stores by hiring, training, supervising, and supporting store management teams. This position performs regular store visits and operational audits at each location to evaluate performance and ensure compliance with company policies, operational standards, and organizational expectations.
Please note that this position has a 180-day introductory period.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Recruit, hire, train, and develop Store Managers and key store personnel to ensure alignment with Goodwill’s mission and performance expectations.
• Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and mentorship to Store Managers to optimize store performance, strengthen leadership skills, and support employee development.
• Ensure Store Managers meet or exceed sales, operational, and customer service objectives by providing regular feedback, performance evaluations, and targeted coaching.
• Conduct operational audits and regular store visits (minimum of two per month per location) to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Monitor store performance metrics, analyze results, and implement strategies to improve sales, operational efficiency, and overall store performance.
• Support Store Managers in addressing performance issues, administering corrective actions, and following company disciplinary procedures when necessary.
• Collaborate with Store Managers to optimize staffing, scheduling, and inventory management across all stores in the district.
• Promote a positive and high-performing work environment across all locations by modeling leadership behaviors, reinforcing company values, and recognizing employee achievements.
• Partner with Human Resources and the Vice President of Retail on all disciplinary actions initiated by Store Managers, reviewing forms and documentation prior to discussion with employees.
• Assist the Vice President of Operations and Retail with all new store openings, including hiring, onboarding, and training of new store staff.
• Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations for Store Managers and key district personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Set goals to maximize store performance and develop the most effective merchandising systems, including merchandise floor plans, displays, and in-store promotions.
• Ensure the efficient and effective use of donated materials across all stores in the district.
• Oversee backroom production procedures and ensure operational efficiency at all district stores.
• Enforce safety practices and procedures and prepare required safety-related reports.
• Communicate any store security issues to Loss Prevention and report all store maintenance issues promptly through the work order management system.
• Monitor employee performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and facilitate actions to increase productivity and operational efficiency.
• Draft, submit, and present various performance and management reports to district leadership.
• Address customer needs and resolve issues promptly, ensuring positive and long-term customer relationships.
• Manage conflicts and resolve complaints regarding or within stores.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the successful operation of the district, team, and mission.

Required Experience:
