Position Overview:

Goodwill Industries of the Columbia is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Instructor to empower low-income parents in their journey toward economic self-sufficiency. As an instructor, you will play a crucial role in equipping participants with essential job readiness skills and fostering their confidence to enter or re-enter the workforce.


The Instructor will lead comprehensive job readiness workshops, life skills classes, and job training classes, focusing on essential hard and soft skills required for successful employment. This role involves enhancing, developing, and implementing curriculum that accommodates participant and community needs and aligns with the Agency’s mission and funding requirements.


What will you do in this job?

  1. Design and facilitate a variety of job readiness and technology-use workshops tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners and the requirements of funding contracts.
  2. Teach classes that cover various aspects of job readiness, including resume writing, cover letter preparation, interview techniques, and workplace culture understanding.
  3. Network with community and business leaders to create a connection between job seekers and employers and identify partners to serve as guest speakers.
  4. Provide guidance and individual support to assist job seekers in setting career goals and developing strategies for achieving them.
  5. Monitor, track, and record accurate attendance and participation records.
  6. Maintain case notes, participant follow-up, documentation and filing of appropriate data in established formats as required.
  7. Safely operate motor vehicles for company business in accordance with all applicable laws, company policies, and insurance eligibility requirements.
  8. Follows all security policies and procedures to protect against injury, theft and misuse of company-owned property and information.
  9. Perform all duties in a timely, organized and efficient manner.
  10. Adhere to the highest level of confidentiality keeping private all Human Resource, Client, and Payroll information. Safeguard documents by keeping them locked when unattended.
  11. Keep supervisor fully informed of any unusual or relevant organization information affecting services, staff and/or outcomes for the individuals served by the Agency.


Compensation and Benefits:

Starting Rate: $23.00, with eligibility for annual performance-based increases. Maximum pay is $25.88, achievable through sustained good performance and years of service.

Enrollment entry dates are January 1st or July 1st.


Work Schedule:


Full-time, hourly position. Days and hours are dependent on business needs, but will occur primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Requirements:

Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license for at lease three (3) years, good driving record, ability to provide own transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance.

Have experience teaching and/or leading groups.

Have excellent verbal and written skills in languages representative of the community being served; bilingual English/ Spanish preferred.

Have intermediate level or better computer skills which include Excel, Outlook, Word, and internet use.

Enjoy working both independently and in teams, and having a variety of tasks in your day.

Have an associate degree or commensurate work experience.

Have the skillset to create, design, and organize curriculum and new programs.

Are a compassionate and attentive listener.

Are passionate about providing high quality customer service.

Interact positively with ethnically, culturally, economically, and disability diverse populations.
