President and CEO

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan (GSEMI) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Adrian, Michigan. The organization's vision is that "people prosper through the efforts of Goodwill and the community" and our focus is to help people overcome barriers to improve their lives. Our mission statement is that: "Goodwill provides exceptional opportunities to people facing barriers."

Our programs and business are funded through the collection, processing and sale of donated clothing and household goods along with the support of several partner organizations that we work very closely with. The Organization

As an independent, autonomous member of Goodwill Industries International, GSEMI is headquartered in Adrian, Michigan and presently has 6 store locations and two training centers within its territory. Board members are elected to three year terms and may serve two consecutive terms before being required to step away for a period of no less than one year. Our current Board consists of some members that have returned, following the mandate leave period, to serve additional terms. The Full Board meets bi-monthly during the odd number months. Most of the interim Board related work is performed by the 6 committees of the Board Executive, Finance/Audit, Donor Development, Workforce Development/Human Resources, Donated Goods/Operations and Nominating. The Executive and Finance committees meet monthly the other committees meet either bi-monthly or as necessary. The President & CEO is an ad hoc member of each committee (without voting rights).

The executive management team assists the President & CEO in providing operational and strategic direction to the organization and serves as the internal governing body, developing policies and procedures. Members of the executive team include the President & CEO, the Vice President of Finance, the Vice President of Workforce Development (VP WFD) and the Vice President of Donated Goods and Operations (VP DGR). The VP Finance joined the organization in December while the VP WFD has been with the organization for 25 years and the VP DGR has 7 years.

Annual revenues are budgeted for $6.9 million in 2019 with growth anticipated over the next several years. Salaries make up about 59% of operating expenses with benefits and payroll taxes representing about 8%. In 2018 GSEMI had an average headcount of around 190 but issued 551 W-2's.
