What are the responsibilities and job description for the MATERIAL HANDLER MARKETPLACE position at Goodwill Industries of Orange County CA?
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Processing donated goods at the Goodwill Marketplace.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports directly to the Marketplace Wholesale Operations Manager; may receive direction from the Assistant Manager, Senior Lead, and Leads.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes textiles and wares for retail and wholesale operations.
- Loads and unloads donated goods.
- Moves cages to appropriate locations as directed.
- Assists in keeping all work areas clean and organized, including the retail store, product staging area, and areas surrounding dumpsters.
- Fills and compacts dumpsters and makes sure that the trash is free of televisions and monitors.
- Separates recyclables from the trash.
- Receives work and safety instructions and answers questions. Communicates with management, co-workers, program participants, and the public.
- Works overtime as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property.
- Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations.
- Follows all company policies and procedures.
- Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed.
- Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness.
- Works with, trains, and/or acts as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED desired, but not required.
- No experience required, will train.
- Ability to understand English well enough to interact effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and customers in the performance of job duties.
- Ability to stand for 7-8 hours per day.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable, but not required.
WORK DEVICES/MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT USED:
Uses cages, flat carts, hand truck, back brace/belt, gloves, pallet jack, brooms, shovels, tarps, pallets, gas air blower, and safety goggles.
