Accountability:
Responsible for providing quality instruction to adults in a basic and secondary learning program to ensure their ability to complete a GED program.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Participant Management
- Provide constant communications with GoodGRADS Staff regarding students’ needs and progress.
- Provide post testing results and other reporting to Adult Education Program Manager.
- Actively recruit adult learners to the GED program by attending events and working with community partners to share information about the GoodGRADS program.
Curriculum Management
- Ability to produce and deliver in person instruction.

Uses GoodGRADS Curriculum with Illinois Career and College Readiness Standards (CCRS) to guide instruction which includes but not limited to:
- Design standard-based instructional units and lesson plans
- Methodology
- On-going assessment
- Establish a course of study
- Plans and delivers high-quality, evidence-based instruction
- Uses a variety of instructional techniques.
- Possesses content area knowledge and teaching skills required for subjects and populations taught.
- Designs instruction to build learners’ technology and digital literacy skills.

Utilize case management skills to:
- Effectively communicate to motivate and engage learners
- Engage in active listening, dialogue and questioning to facilitate support and accountability of goals and commitments
- Model an understanding of diversity
- Participates in professional development networks and learning communities.
- Participates in and contributes to program improvement efforts.
Environment:
Belvidere: The work is conducted in Belvidere and must be flexible with working with other mission programs in the same office space. This environment involves collaboration with multiple teams. Noise levels will generally be quiet to moderate. Office and classrooms are climate controlled with standard indoor lighting. The role involves computer-based tasks, meetings, and collaboration with colleagues. Must be able to teach using online platforms and in-person.
McHenry/Ottawa: The work is conducted in a retail store environment in a community room. Must be able to work in a retail store location with varied noise and temperature levels. Local travel is required for networking, community and engagement, and partner meetings. The role involves computer-based tasks, meetings, and collaboration with colleagues. Must be able to teach using online platforms and in-person.
Sensory and Physical Requirements:
Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Qualifications & Basic Job Requirements:
- A combination of education and relevant work experience that aligns with the duties of this position.
- Demonstrate ability to work with individuals with barriers, understand, and communicate with diverse groups.
- Experience working with high school and adult age students in non-traditional, and/or in adult education setting highly preferred.
- The ability to motivate and assist individuals in learning.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills along with basic computer navigation and word processing skills are essential.
