Job Description
General cleaning of classrooms, offices, dorms, and athletic facilities in a university setting. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Dusts furniture and equipment.
- Polishes metal work.
- Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
- Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empties wastebaskets, and empties and cleans ashtrays.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Replaces light bulbs or as specified in contract.
- Cuts and trims grass, and shovels snow or as specified by contract.
- Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
- Sweep and pickup trash on the parking lot and entrances or as specified by contract.
- Cleans all sinks, commodes, and mirrors.
- Maintain janitorial equipment and supplies to ensure economical use thereof.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred, and one to three months experience and/or training. Prior custodial experience strongly preferred.
- Must have ability to pass criminal background check.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Judgment must be used if items weigh over 25 pounds.
