General Purpose
Provide paid summer internships under the grant for DVRS Pre-Employment Transition Services. Program is geared for students currently enrolled in school ages 14 to 21 years of age. The Student Interns will gain work experience at an employer site for up to six weeks during summer 2021. The paid internship will be up to 20 hours per week and student will be paid bi-weekly. Each student intern must commit to participating in work readiness classes prior to internship starting and one day weekly work readiness upon start of internship.

Essential Functions
- Participate in work readiness classes to determine a job match prior internship.
- Participate in work readiness classes 1x per week once in internship
- Able to work for a business/community with minimal job support
- Able to travel to and from internship location in the community via public transportation or by own means of transportation(walking, bus, train etc)
- Intern will participate in job sampling for the first 3 days.
- Intern must be able work up to 5 hours per day (Monday – Friday)
- Interns will be required to communicate any missed shift to their Skills Trainer
- Interns will develop employment, interpersonal as well as develop professional relationships to utilize once they transition out of high school.
Qualifications
- High School Student between the ages of 14 to 21.
- Have an IEP, 504 plan or medical documentation
- Registered for DVRS (Hudson & Essex Counties)
- Communication skills
- Ability to take care of daily living needs
- Ability to communicate with Skills Trainer and Job Site manager/supervisor
- Must be able to travel
- Able to be alone in community
- Maintain confidentiality and security of customer records and documents.
- Will receive supervision from the Coordinator of Pre-Employment Services as needed.
- Expected to work in the community
- Able to meet job requirements in community business
- Ability to commit to 5 days for up to 6 weeks
