What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Support Officer II (Temporary/Contract Employment) Tyler Office position at GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF EAST TEXAS INC?
The incumbent in this temporary position will be primarily responsible performing routine (journey-level) child support work. Work involves conducting investigations to locate or trace absent parents and to determine or establish paternity, enforcing court orders of child support, preparing case documentation, and monitoring cases. Work under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
The ideal candidate will be able to: conduct investigations to locate or trace absent parents; review and assesses cases to develop implementation strategies and determines appropriate subsequent actions; monitor child support payments and refers delinquent cases for appropriate enforcement action. Prepares various documents relating to legal or other actions necessary to establish or enforce a court order for child support. Respond to inquiries concerning case status. Explain program policies, procedures, and regulations to parents through individual interviews or seminars. Attends court with legal staff to update legal documents and assist in negotiations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of child support laws, policies, principles, and practices; and of investigative practices and techniques.

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified individuals must have a high school diploma or GED; plus 6 months to a year of related experience in interviewing and collections related to child support. Must be able to pass a general background check.
