What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Support Officer II-FT-Temp position at GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF EAST TEXAS INC?
The incumbent in this temporary position will be primarily responsible performing routine (journey-level) child support work. Work involves conducting investigations, enforcing court orders of child support, preparing case documentation, and monitoring cases. Work under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
The ideal candidate will be able to: conduct investigations; review and assesses cases to develop implementation strategies and determines appropriate subsequent actions; monitor child support payments and refers delinquent cases for appropriate enforcement action. Prepares various documents relating to legal or other actions necessary to establish or enforce a court order for child support. Respond to inquiries concerning case status. Explain program policies, procedures, and regulations to parents through individual interviews or seminars. Attends court with legal staff to update legal documents and assist in negotiations. Education Qualifications: Qualified individuals must have a high school diploma or GED; plus 6 months to a year of related experience in interviewing and collections related to child support. Must be able to pass a general background check.

Takes the appropriate case action to locate absent parents, establish paternity for children born out-of-wedlock, establish or enforce child/medical support obligation, or initiate case closure: Conducts detailed in-office investigations to locate parties, verify employment and determine assets · Prepares documents relating to legal and administrative actions to establish or enforce child support orders · Negotiates lump sum payments from noncustodial parents who owe past due child/medical support · Negotiates out-of-court settlements and agreements with parties · Monitors child support cases and refers delinquent cases for the appropriate enforcement action(s) · Documents all case actions taken using the appropriate agency tools, including but not limited to Texas Child Support Enforcement System (TXCSES), case/court documents · Reviews and maintains child support virtual files for accuracy in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) repository · Reviews cases to determine if the cases are eligible for closure · Assists legal staff, as needed |
