The Opportunity!
At Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, as a Store Cashier, you will be expected to provide excellent customer service while operating a cash register. Major duties include ringing up all sales transactions, operating a cash register, and greeting and assisting customers/donors.
A Day in the Life of a Store Cashier!
- Greeting each customer with a courteous, friendly, and professional attitude.
- Providing prompt, efficient, and accurate customer service at all times.
- Directing customers to the proper area and providing general information as requested.
- Ringing up all sales transactions into the cash register and complete sales.
- Ensuring that each customer receives the proper change and correct receipt for purchase.
- Following all policies and procedures concerning cash, check, charge card transactions, voids, gift cards, and change Round Up program.
- Keeping the register area clean and orderly at all times.
- Answering telephone calls promptly using an established etiquette procedure.
- Assisting sales floor employees with stocking and recovery.
Physical and Environmental Work Conditions:
- Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Standing and walking for long periods.
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push, and pull.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
Education and/or Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School education or equivalent is preferred. Previous retail and/or cashiering experience is highly preferred.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and beginner knowledge of touch screen cash registers.
