Primary Function:
Under the direction of the Career Center Manager, the Career Specialist oversees career services by engaging participants in drop-in lab services, assessing employment goals, and ensuring appropriate levels of service to support successful job placement outcomes. This role develops and manages quality job leads, builds employer relationships, and ensures accurate documentation of participant activity, referrals, and placements.
Essential Functions:

Engage drop-in lab participants to assess employment needs and support job-related activities.
- Research, develop, and post quality job leads daily that align with participant goals and employer requirements.
- Build and maintain employer relationships to identify openings, clarify hiring needs, and screen applicants.
- Refer qualified participants to employment opportunities and document referrals and outcomes accurately.
- Maintain required documentation, including job leads, employer contacts, lab logs, attendance, and participant records.
- Collect participant feedback, track job placements, and follow up with inactive participants to support continued engagement.
- Oversee the drop-in lab environment to ensure productivity, rule compliance, positive behavior, and a welcoming atmosphere.
- Ensure computers, printers, and lab equipment are operational and coordinate repair or replacement as needed.
- Encourage participants to engage in appropriate higher-level services or workshops based on assessed needs.
- Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, effective communication, and adherence to organizational policies while working with minimal supervision.

Requirements:
Must be able to demonstrate good judgment
Computer literate – experience with multimedia formats, Microsoft Office, and data management systems.

Must have dependable transportation, a valid Florida Driver’s License, and a current private auto insurance policy.

Qualifications:
Professional experience in case management
Knowledge of Microsoft Office & other relevant software applications
Knowledge of customer service principals & practices
Education or experience in Human Services, Social Work or a related field.
