Activity Aide

Summary

The function of this position is to provide supervision of and assistance to participants in a GESMV Program. The major focus of the position is to maintain the participants' safety, well-being, dignity and general overall involvement in day-to-day activities, as well as encourage and promote independent living skills. Assist with planning and implementing recreational, social and therapeutic activities, in accordance with the program mission.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Assist staff in following through with programming for the participants and assessing program needs.

2. Assist in providing appropriate self-help skills, as needed.

3. Assist in transportation, bathroom and lunch transitions, as needed.

4. Assist in ordering participants meals: maintain special diet/needs listing.

1. Assist with maintenance of required charts/logs.

6. Assist in general cleaning of activity/program areas (e.g.: sanitizing tables, taking out trash, cleaning utensils and other duties as needed).

1. Assist in providing appropriate social, recreational, and therapeutic activities for participants.

2. Assist with maintenance of daily attendance and van rosters to assure all elements are completed.

3. Assist in scheduling transportation.

4. Maintain safe and secure physical environment for participants.

5. Maintain all rules and regulations regarding confidentiality and privacy of participants and family.

6. Attend all workshops, staff meetings and In-Service training as required by the State and the program.

7. Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards and ensure safety training throughout areas and maintain same to meet CARF, OSHA, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or a GED required. STNA preferred but not required.

Experience Requirements

Experience working with physically, mentally, emotionally impaired and socially isolated adults and seniors preferred but not required.

• Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check, physical and random drug screens.
