Under the direct supervision of the Store Manager and/or Manager Trainee, Associate is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day store operations and store performance to meet or exceed budget while operating in compliance with company standards, policies and procedures. May be required to supervise community service workers on a limited or as needed basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)

1. Ensures respectful and efficient customer service to all donors and customers. Enthusiastic, friendly and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service.
2. Accomplishes designated production guidelines. Processes all donations according to agency standard.
3. Clear out outside donations at the beginning and end of each shift.
4. Accept donations while engaging donors through educating them on the Goodwill Acadiana Mission resulting in increased donations.
5. Participates in the pricing, displaying and selling of store merchandise within price ranges established by Goodwill management.
6. Adequately stocks and maintains interior and exterior of the store in an attractive manner.
7. Accurately handle cash register transactions, accepts payments, bag purchases and thank the customer for shopping at Goodwill.
8. Ability to multi-task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
9. Ensures proper rotation of all store merchandise.
10. Balance cash register receipts, prepare daily bank deposits and maintain records of store transactions for each business day as required.
11. Manages store’s loss control by watching customers and employees and reporting suspicious activity to the Store Manager, Safety Ambassador and/or Director of Safety and Security. Ensures that items are not given away without authorization.
12. Ensures a clean and safe environment in the store, processing area and/or donation center by practicing good housekeeping practices.
13. Assure dressing rooms are kept in a neat and clean manner, rehanging merchandise and hangers as needed.
14. Regular work attendance is required as outlined in Goodwill’s attendance policy. Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
15. Observes Safety procedures and Personnel policies.
16. Attends all regularly scheduled agency meetings to include, but not limited to, store meetings, retail meetings and staff meetings.
17. Demonstrates the characteristics of a member of a Role Model Workforce by demonstrating a high level of integrity and understanding of the mission of Goodwill Industries Acadiana. They also seek out opportunities to contribute and improve the community at large.
18. Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision when appropriate.
19. Ability to read, write and effectively communicate with customers, peers and management.
20. Answer the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner as needed.
21. Remain in designated work area throughout assigned shift.
22. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Ability to work semi-independently and to develop and maintain effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, trainees, customers and donors.
2. Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean appearance.
3. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
4. Must possess and consistently demonstrate the ability and willingness to utilize excellent customer service skills.
