Journeyman Drywall Taper – Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Drywall Taper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in drywall finishing, with the ability to deliver smooth, seamless surfaces ready for paint or texture. This role requires precision, efficiency, and a strong eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Drywall finishing: Apply tape, compound, and finishing techniques to drywall joints, corners, and seams.
• Surface preparation: Ensure all surfaces are properly sanded, smoothed, and ready for final finish.
• Quality control: Inspect completed work to meet industry standards and client expectations.
• Tool operation: Safely and effectively use taping tools, automatic tapers, sanders, and finishing equipment.
• Collaboration: Work alongside apprentices, journeymen, and other trades to maintain project timelines.
• Safety compliance: Follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of drywall taping experience or completion of an apprenticeship program.
• Strong knowledge of drywall compounds, textures, and finishing techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
• Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and in varied environments.
• Manual dexterity and stamina for repetitive tasks.
