Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities or special needs in a group home or home health setting. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs and preferences.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance residents' social interactions and overall well-being.
- Ensure the safety and security of residents by monitoring their activities and environment.
- Facilitate recreational activities that promote engagement and skill development.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, including any changes in residents’ conditions or behaviors.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to ensure comprehensive care for each resident.
- Uphold resident rights by treating individuals with dignity and respect while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Perform heavy lifting as needed to assist residents with mobility or transfers.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a group home, senior care, or home health setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of care plans and medication administration practices is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist residents with physical mobility as required.
- Strong understanding of resident rights and commitment to upholding them at all times.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of resident information.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members.
