Job Summary
Are you passionate about firearms, outdoor sports, and providing exceptional customer service? We are seeking a knowledgeable, safety-minded, and customer-focused Retail Sales Associate to join our team.
In this role, you will be the face of our store, helping customers find the right products for their needs—whether they are first-time buyers, seasoned hunters, or sports shooters. You will guide customers through the purchasing process, ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal firearms regulations (including ATF compliance), and maintain a welcoming, professional store environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement: Welcome customers, assess their needs, and provide expert advice on firearms, ammunition, optics, and accessories.
Regulatory Compliance: Accurately facilitate and process federal (Form 4473), state, and local background checks. Ensure 100% accuracy on all compliance paperwork.
Safe Handling: Demonstrate and enforce safe firearm handling practices at all times with customers and team members.
Sales & Merchandising: Maintain a deep knowledge of current inventory, restock shelves, and ensure displays are clean, organized, and secure.
Point of Sale (POS): Efficiently operate the cash register, process transactions, and handle returns or exchanges according to store policy.
Inventory Control: Assist with regular inventory counts, log firearms in/out of the Bound Book (A&D Log) accurately, and report any discrepancies immediately.
Qualifications & Skills
Age Requirement: Must be 21 years of age or older (required for handling/selling handguns and compliance purposes).
Legal: Must be legally permitted to possess, handle, and sell firearms. Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
Experience: 1–2 years of retail sales or customer service experience preferred. Prior experience in a gun store, outdoor outfitter, or military/law enforcement background is a major plus.
Knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of firearms safety, types of ammunition, and shooting accessories.
Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail, specifically regarding legal documentation and compliance forms.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8 hours per day).
Ability to lift and move boxes up to 40 lbs (e.g., cases of ammunition).
