Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide one-on-one support to a student with special needs at Gooding Elementary School. This full-time position involves working closely with the student to facilitate their learning, social interaction, and overall well-being in an inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students with diverse needs and a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the student with daily academic tasks, ensuring understanding and engagement in the curriculum.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support the specific goals outlined for the student.
  • Provide behavioral support and guidance to promote positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to create an effective learning environment.
  • Monitor and document the student’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
  • Facilitate communication between the student and their peers, encouraging inclusion and participation in group activities.
  • Assist with personal care needs as required, ensuring the student's comfort and safety.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school policies and procedures regarding student information and support.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in special education or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students in their learning and development.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and respond effectively to the needs of the student.
  • Basic understanding of special education principles and practices.
  • Willingness to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and participate in ongoing training.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
