Duties
- Safely operate forklifts, and other material handling equipment to load and unload shipments.
- Conduct routine inspections and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Manage inventory by accurately picking orders
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities by verifying shipment contents and preparing items for dispatch.
- Follow OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety protocols and warehouse safety standards during all operations.
- Support manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and materials movement within the lumber yard
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage solutions, improve workflow efficiency, and maintain organized storage areas.
Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts,
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments including OSHA regulations related to forklift safety protocols and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting with proper technique to prevent injury.
- Basic math skills for inventory counts, measurements, and documentation accuracy.
- Experience in shipping & receiving processes along with order picking using
pickers or similar tools. - Familiarity with hardwood practices, materials handling best practices, and equipment repair basics.
