Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our large animal veterinary team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will support veterinarians in providing exceptional medical care, ensuring the well-being of a diverse range of animals. Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures such as x-ray imaging and laboratory testing.
- Handle large animals safely using proper restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
- Perform animal husbandry tasks including feeding, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness to promote optimal health.
- Support laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques and accurate record-keeping.
- Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with emergency interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, laboratory results, and procedural details following veterinary terminology standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment adhering to safety protocols and veterinary terminology standards.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in horse and livestock handling, including restraint techniques.
- Experience with laboratory procedures, medication administration, and aseptic techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with basic veterinary terminology and anatomy.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25.0 – 35.0 per week
