Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Charge Nurse in our Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) unit during daytime shifts. Duties
- Provide direct patient care with proficiency in medical-surgical nursing practices, including vital signs assessment, medication administration, and physical examinations.
- Lead and coordinate nursing staff on the unit, assigning duties and ensuring optimal workflow to deliver high-quality care.
- Oversee patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and monitor progress using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical documentation, including ICD-10 coding and nursing notes.
- Manage complex clinical situations involving acute pain management, IV infusion therapy, catheterization, wound suturing, and aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for diagnostic evaluations like laboratory testing, radiology (e.g., CT scans), and trauma assessments in Level I or Level II trauma center settings.
- Support triage processes for incoming patients and assist with emergency response protocols to uphold safety standards.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current state registration; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
- Proven experience in medical-surgical units with familiarity in ICU or emergency medicine environments.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to adult acute care patients.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead clinical teams effectively while maintaining exemplary patient care standards.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to perform patient assessments rapidly and accurately under pressure.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, sterile processing procedures, and advanced skills such as tube feeding management or ventilator support are advantageous.
