SUMMARY:
The In-House Electrician is responsible for all electrical work related to pool construction, renovation, and ongoing service operations. This includes installing and maintaining electrical systems for pool equipment, ensuring compliance with local and national electrical codes, and coordinating with construction crews, service technicians, and inspectors to keep projects on schedule and up to code.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Construction & Installation
- Install electrical wiring, conduit, and panels for new pool construction, including bonding and grounding of pool structures per NEC Article 680
- Wire and connect pool pumps, heaters, filtration systems, salt chlorine generators, and automation control systems
- Install underwater and landscape lighting, including low-voltage and 120V/240V fixtures
- Set up and wire sub-panels, disconnects, and GFCI/GFPE protection for pool equipment pads
- Install wiring for pool covers, water features, fountains, and spa jets/blowers
Service & Repair
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in existing pool equipment (pumps, heaters, lighting, controls)
- Troubleshoot and replace faulty breakers, relays, timers, transformers, and control boards
- Respond to service calls for equipment failures, tripped GFCIs, and lighting outages
- Perform routine electrical inspections and preventive maintenance on customer pool systems
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), local building codes, and bonding/grounding requirements specific to pools and spas
- Maintain a safe work environment, including proper lockout/tagout procedures and PPE use
- Keep up to date on code changes affecting pool and spa electrical work
Coordination & Documentation
- Work closely with pool builders, plumbers, and project managers to sequence electrical work within the build schedule
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, hours worked, and service performed
- Work closely with Warranty Department to expedite covered claims and repairs.
- Record daily logs for all projects in database and report any causes of delay to the office and management team.
- Communicate with customers on-site regarding electrical work and system operation
- Ensure vehicle is stocked with supplies, tools and equipment needed to accomplish daily tasks.
- Inform the warehouse of product/material needs and sign out all items to the job.
Vehicle & Equipment
- Maintain company vehicle and tools in good working condition
- Operate hand and power tools, meters, and testing equipment safely
General
- Represent the company in a professional manner, prioritizing safety and courtesy to homeowners and neighbors.
- Participate in industry training on and off site as directed by management.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities required.
- 3 years of electrical experience; pool/spa experience strongly preferred
- Low-voltage lighting and automation system experience (e.g., Pentair, Jandy, Hayward controls)
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- Working knowledge of NEC Article 680 (Swimming Pools, Fountains, and Similar Installations)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Understanding of advanced electrical systems used with contemporary pool components.
- Demonstrated mastery of required tools to complete electrical wiring and testing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current municipal codes pertaining to pools and spas.
- Possess and maintain valid driver license and clean driving record.
- Proven customer service skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, at customer locations.
