Compensation: $16-$17/hr plus cash tips

Opening at Hole in the Wall Bagels, a local bagel bakery & coffee shop owned by Good Tern Co-op.

*This is a fast-paced, customer-facing work environment*

Shift hours are 6:30 AM—1:30 PM. At least one weekend day is required. Ideally, we are looking for a year-round candidate, but seasonal candidates will also be considered. Must be over 18 years old (necessary to operate some equipment).

Position Summary: Front End Team Members work in multiple areas of the bagel shop, providing customer service, making and serving food, ringing in orders, processing payments, ensuring products are readily available for customers to purchase, and that the store and its products are in the best possible condition to ensure favorable impressions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Greets customers and provides exceptional customer service; answers questions and assists customers with products and orders.

Uses POS systems to check customers out with their purchases, collect payments, and answer customer questions.

Prepare customer orders, including slicing & toasting bagels, making sandwiches, and coffee beverages.

Ensures that products are stocked, available, and presentable.

Assists with unloading and receiving products during deliveries from vendors; reviews inventory on a regular basis; visually inspects products and checks product expiration dates.

Repacks items as necessary, following all packaging sanitization procedures, including separating, weighing, wrapping, and labeling products and stocking or storing repacked items.

Assists with opening and closing the Store.

Ensures a neat and clean shop, front end, and café; duties will include sweeping, mopping floors, sanitizing, wiping down surfaces, cleaning up spills, etc.

Ensures that the bathroom is cleaned and well-stocked; duties may include sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning toilets, etc.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and listen, stand for the full shift, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and twist. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Hand and finger dexterity, motor control, and eye/hand coordination are needed. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work is performed primarily in a busy retail store environment. The noise level is moderate to loud. Must be able to withstand the stress and pressure of dealing with the public in a fast-paced environment. The shop can get very warm in the summer months.
